Configure Existing Tally.ERP 9 License

The option Configure Existing License is used in a LAN environment to configure an existing license from the Gateway Server.
To configure an existing license using Gateway Server
1.     Start Tally.ERP 9.
2.     Click C: Configure Existing License in the Startup screen.
3.     Select Gateway Server in the Configure field.
The Configure Existing License screen appears as shown below:

4.     Enter the Server Name/IP and Port number in the respective fields.
5.     By default, Tally.ERP 9 sets the port to 9999. To use another port, specify the required port number. Alternatively, click F2: Gateway Servers to list the compatible gateway servers.
6.     Click Yes to save the details.
Tally.ERP 9 license is configured, and the license details are displayed in the Information Panel.

To configure an existing license using the License File of 4.93 or older releases

1.     Select License File in the Configure field.
Note: The license file path provided should be from the local system.
2.     Enter the license file path of Tally.ERP 9 Release 4.93 or older releases in the License File path field.
3.     Click Yes to save the details.
4.     Click Yes for the message Do you want to restart Tally.ERP 9 for the changes to have effect ? which appears.
Tally.ERP 9 license is configured, and the license details are displayed in the Information Panel.

To use Tally.ERP 9 Release 5.0 and any of the older releases in the same system, with either single or multi user license,

Single User
    1. Surrender the license in the old release.
    2. Install Tally.ERP 9 Series A Release 5.0 in different folder, and reactivate the license.
    3. Start the old release, click C: Configure Existing License in the Startup screen.
    4. Select Existing Single User in the Configure field.
    5. Enter the server name In Tally License Server field.
      To identify the server name
      1. Go to Start > Run > type CMD.
      2. Type ipconfig and note down the IP address.
    6. Enter the port on which TallyGatewayServer is running.
      To identify the port number
      1. Go to Windows > Run > type Services.msc.
      2. Search for Tally Gateway Server service.
      3. Check for the port number mentioned next to Tally Gateway Server.
       Note: For example, if the service name appears as Tally Gateway Server 1.0 then Gateway server is installed on default port 9999. If it appears as Tally Gateway Server 1.0 – 10001 it means that Tally Gateway Server is installed on port 10001.
Multi User Server Machine
    1. Surrender the license in the old release.
    2. Install Tally.ERP 9 Series A Release 5.0 in different folder, and reactivate the license.
    3. Start the old release, click C: Configure Existing License in the Startup screen.
    4. Select Existing Multi User in the Configure field.
    5. Enter the server name In Tally License Server field.
      To identify the server name
      1. Go to Start > Run > type CMD.
      2. Type ipconfig to identify the IP address.
    6. Enter the port on which TallyGatewayServer is running.
      To identify the port number
      1. Go to Windows > Run > type Services.msc.
      2. Search for Tally Gateway Server service.
      3. Check for the port number mentioned next to Tally Gateway Server.
       Note: For example, if the service name appears as Tally Gateway Server 1.0 then Gateway server is installed on default port 9999. If it appears as Tally Gateway Server 1.0 – 10001 it means that Tally Gateway Server is installed on port 10001.
Client Machine
    1. Install Tally.ERP 9 Release 5.0.
    2. Click C: Configure Existing License in the Startup screen.
    3. Enter the name or IP address of the server.
    4. Enter the port on which TallyGatewayServer is running.
